Designed as to augment the award-winning Career Choices curriculum, the optional www.My10yearPlan.com® provides an online planning area where students can store, update and save their work and data related to the development of their 10-year plans.  In conjunction with the Career Choices curriculum, this online planning tool helps students develop a meaningful 10-year career- inclusive educational plan leading to a productive adult life.

Through this process, students are stretched to envision a future that includes:

With www.My10yearPlan.com®, it is now possible for all instructors and counselors to take an active advisory role with each and every student. With immediate online access to these plans, they are now better equipped to mentor students on the best educational path and provide tutoring and support when academic effort doesn’t match lifestyle expectations.

Continuing the momentum started by the Career Choices Experience.

In order to accomplish this, and to also maintain the momentum started by a course involving Career Choices, it is critical that students revisit and revise their 10-year plans throughout their sophomore, junior and senior years. The more students are asked to rethink and rework their plans, the more meaningful the plans will be and the more comfortable the students will become with making decisions that involve change—which in itself is a crucial survival skill in the workforce of the 21st century.

Because My10yearplan.com® is online, this also facilitates the school-wide initiative described in the 10 Step Plan by Dr. Rebecca Dedmond.  It makes it easy for teachers, during the course of the sophomore, junior and senior years, to plan classroom activities that facilitate the updating and revising the students’ plans.  Because of the new information learned in a variety of high school classes, students can be directed to reassessed their life goals and then update their plans.
